Microsoft Dynamics GP 10

Interface

Dynamics GP will again get a facelift in release 10. Users started to get a feel for the role based home page and Microsoft Outlook/Office look and feel in Version 9. The change in interface will continue in Version 10 as the “ribbon” concept seen in Office 2007 is added. I think users will find it easier to navigate and fewer clicks will be required to reach important information. It seems Microsoft has really packed a lot of information and tools into the user interface without making things look cluttered. Watch for announcements on our web site about the UI in the coming months.

Reporting

What do users of ERP and accounting systems want most…. better reporting! And by all accounts Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 has delivered. Dynamics GP 10.0 will ship with 13 pre-built report models to use with SQL Reporting Services (SRS). That is 13 complete report models not eight reports like previous versions. The report models will cover all major areas like sales, purchasing, inventory control, project accounting and more. These report models will have the key tables for each area defined so end users can create useful reports using SRS.

More Reporting

Of course, what is everyone’s favorite reporting tool? Excel. Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 will ship with over 200 predefined Excel based reports. You will be able to modify these reports via Excel and add information from Dynamics GP or information that is stored in other databases! The learning curve should not be too steep because you will be using the ever familiar Excel tool.

SharePoint Light-Up

The integration between Microsoft Dynamics GP and SharePoint will continue and be enhanced in release 10.0. Included will be many exciting Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 “light-up” features, including workflow functionality, structured and unstructured search, and added business intelligence capabilities. “Light up” means that features will turn on in Dynamics GP upon the installation of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 components.

As Microsoft releases more detailed information about the SharePoint integration we will pass the information along to you.

Those are just some of the highlights. Stay tuned as more information becomes available we will pass it along.
