One of the key elements of a successful system implementation is robust reporting.  Microsoft Dynamics GP offers an excellent tool for reporting and that is SmartList Builder.  SmartList Builder not only lets you create more robust SmartList reports, but it also allows users to edit the new Excel based reports in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.

Microsoft Great Plains has always been known for excellent functionality and most users understand and utilize SmartLists, but SmartList Builder will allow for far more robust reporting.  The Excel reports delivered by Microsoft in Version 10 are especially helpful.  These reports can be formatted and created by users and viewed simply by opening Excel.  In addition, these reports will dynamically update so users always have the latest information.

One important note is that you you do need to license SmartList Builder to modify the Excel reports.

Let us know if you want more information about SmartList Builder and watch for an upcoming newsletter article with more details.

Re: SmartList Builder for Microsoft Dynamics GP

If you export SmartList data to Excel you should look at “EZ-GP” by Data Presentation Products Inc. (DPPI) (www.datapresentation.com). EZ-GP exports data from SmartList to Excel at speeds than can be over 100 times faster for larger record sets. Once the data gets to Excel use “Xcelerator for Excel” to automatically format the data into a feature rich Excel workbook. Xcelerator works with all Excel data, not just SmartList exports. Xcelerator let’s you re-order columns, hide columns, add Excel formula fields including VLookups, sort, create better formatted subtotals, create Conditional Formats ... every major Excel worksheet formatting feature can be completely automated. There is a special “Conditional Negative” calculated field for changing the sign of numeric values from positive to negative based on the value in a corresponding cell; like changing “Sales Amount” from positive to negative if the “Trans Code” is “Return” or “Credit Memo”. You can also completely automate the creation of Charts, PivotTables, PivotCharts, and formatted PivotTable Drill worksheets. Once a user-defined workbook format has been designed and saved from within Excel it can be reused with only a few mouse clicks to create an identically formatted workbook in seconds. Xcelerator includes EZ-GP, but if you purchase EZ-GP first the price of Xcelerator is reduced by the cost of EZ-GP. DPPI has other time-saving add-ins for Excel.

Re: SmartList Builder for Microsoft Dynamics GP

Is there a way that we can automatically run a smartlist at a specified time and have it export the data to an excel and save the file somewhere?
