By now, you’ve certainly heard the phrase “Powerfully Simple” used to describe Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. Well, it’s not just a tag line. Microsoft worked very hard to simplify Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for all of the people who interact with the system: developers, implementation partners, systems administrators, and end users. We want to share some of the ways Microsoft made Microsoft Dynamics AX simpler to manage and maintain, and discuss how that can help your business.

Since the availability for MS Dynamics AX2012 in August, Microsoft has released an update of the Connector for MS Dynamics AX2012 and MS Dynamics CRM. Connector for Microsoft Dynamics helps customers who are using Dynamics CRM (either online or on-premise) integrate it with their Dynamics ERP solution. Out of the box, Microsoft provides you with baseline integrations that will help you move customer information, inventory and pricing information and sales order between the two systems. Using a web service to web service integration on a scheduled basis, the data moves seamlessly between the two solutions, helping you keep the two systems in sync. Plus, it's easy to modify the baseline integrations to better match how you do business. You can easily synchronize additional fields, adjust the length of time between schedules, or do deeper modifications using the Connector SDK.
Business processes provide the foundation on which work gets done within organizations. Business management software can provide significant value when it can help the business execute on these processes more efficiently and effectively.
Microsoft introduced workflow support in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to help organizations automate their business processes for greater efficiency. In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, they have improved on these tools and introduced some powerful features that not only drive efficiency but also provide the flexibility to quickly model and change your business processes, giving your organization greater agility.
Wouldn’t it be nice if ERP worked the way your business does, rather than forcing you to adapt your processes to the constraints of the software? Or perhaps deploy software that reflects your organizational structure—rather than the other way around? These are critical pieces that can be a key to the success or failure of the implementation.
In Microsoft Dynamics AX, you can achieve this “fit” by using organizational modeling tools. The way you describe your organization in these tools can have a huge impact on the application features and scenarios. In the latest release of Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft invested heavily in updating the organizational model to enable you to more accurately reflect the structure of your organization and to quickly reshape and restructure existing models as business conditions change.
