A company is only as strong as the people that stand by it. At Logan Consulting we believe that one of the best ways to find a quality ERP system and implementation partner is to look at case studies and success stories from other companies like your own. We work with businesses in a variety of different businesses, and QAD is a great fit for many. Read on for our case study on a leading tech service provider who benefited from QAD ERP.

The Client

Our client is a leading network designer for some of the world’s largest communication service providers. They focus highly on mobility, optical, data and voice networking technologies as well as software and services to develop next-generation networks.

The Opportunity

Our client saw benefit in expanding their use of contract manufacturers and by spinning off manufacturing sights to contract manufacturers, they were able to focus resources on developing more advanced networking systems while leveraging the expertise of leading contract managers.

With this in mind, the client wanted to focus on two of their facilities; one that made wireless networking equipment and the other that makes switching and access products. Both sites used a dated legacy accounting software that needed to be migrated to a more traditional ERP system for their contract manufacturers to use. After some deliberation, QAD MFG/Pro was decided to be the best fit for their new contract manufacturer.

Logan Consulting was asked to complete a gap assessment that determined just how our client’s customization would affect implementing MFG/Pro purchasing and financials. We were also asked to determine future customizations that would be needed.

The Solution

When Logan Consulting arrived, it was discovered that expected business process flows were not defined and gaps in the ERP supply chain were discovered. To ensure the conversion went smoothly, Logan went through an intensive validation of our client’s customization.

Once this step was completed, Logan documented current and future business process flows, giving our client the proper foundation. Intensive training was also completed to ensure that our client’s staff had a good grasp on new processes as well as new opportunities to leverage the real-time data and information that would now be accessible in their new system. Once everything seemed to be set into place, Logan also ran plenty of tests to ensure that there were no kinks to be worked out.

The Results

Our client successfully went live on September 1, 2001 for the phase 1 executing production and fulfillment.

The successful migration has positioned the contract manufacturer for phase 2 implementation that will allow contract manufacturers to eliminate costly inefficiencies and become a world-class performance organization
