What Are SAFs?

SAFs, also known as supplementary analysis fields, are analysis codes similar to sub-accounts, cost centers and projects codes.  When combined with a general ledger account, the SAF will provide additional description or flavor to a general ledger transaction.

System SAF functionality has been included in QAD’s Enterprise Edition Applications.  This feature leverages existing master data attributes that have been in the Standard Edition version of the software.  These attributes include:

·        Order Site

·        Item Product Line

·        Item Type

·        Item Group

·        Customer Type

·        Customer Region

·        Supplier Type

These general ledger transactions analysis codes are elective settings in configuration.  Regardless of the general ledger configuration, these master data attributes require configuration for their associated master data tables.

As your company transitions from Standard Edition to Enterprise Edition, you company should consider leveraging the SAFs in your financial management reports.
