With Dynamics AX being a mission critical application, we want you to be advised that the end-of-life may be approaching soon for the version you are running on.

The adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” does not always apply to the software world. One day something may go awry and you find out that you are on an unsupported software version and you have to scrabble to get things up and going again. Its not an easy task to stay current on a system as there is effort, time and expense to applying patches, updates and taking the time to thoroughly do regression testing on it.

Dynamics AX 2012 has been out for quite some time as has AX 2009 both will be soon reaching end-of life soon and it’s important to know what version you are on and the steps you want to take to keep current.

To see the version you are running, if you do not know offhand, is to simply click on the help icon in the top right-hand corner of Dynamics AX and then select the about and compare the version number to the below list.

What is the difference between Mainstream support and Extended support?

Mainstream Support

Extended Support

· Request to change product design and features

· Support agreement available

· Security updates

· Non-security updated

· Warranty claims

· Self-service support

· Not able to request product design and features

· Extended service agreement required

· Security updates available

· Non-security updates only available with extended hotfix support

Extended support agreements can be very costly and its important to know what you receive with the agreements. If you have any questions on support options please give us a call.

Third Party Software Applications

There are many third-party software applications that you should also keep up to date because of additional and enhanced features. A couple of the most popular software packages are:

Generally, you can find the version information for third party application in the Dynamics Help/About section.

If you have any questions on your AX application version or third-party application or want information on upgrading, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@loganconsulting.com or (312) 345-8817.

All the best!
