The Wormhole Coffee
This spot is open daily from 7am-11pm, making it the perfect place for those late-night study sessions. Wormhole’s interior is filled with mismatched furniture including comfy couches. The vintage vibes this place has will keep you in for another cup of brew, no doubt. Need a study break? Old Nintendo gaming systems are in the back for your enjoyment. Although, Wormhole doesn’t include a full menu, Milwaukee Ave is flooded with food just a few doors down.
Goddess and the Grocer
Need a bite to get your thoughts flowing? You won’t want to miss this delicious choice. The Goddess and the Grocer has 4 different locations throughout the city and 2 Goddess and the Baker locations. Started by Australian, Debbie Sharpe, who got her start catering for Paul and Linda McCartney, decided to call Chicago home and began her very own group of businesses. The options are plentiful at Goddess and the Grocer with coffee, desserts, bagels, soups, sandwiches, wine, and beer. Their shockingly good soups change daily, with chicken matzo ball soup offered every day. Ranging from Thai corn chowder to tomato leek bisque, Goddess and the Grocer has a hearty bowl for everyone!
Fairgrounds
Debuted in March 2017 in the heart of Bucktown, this gem has a few unique qualities along with an ascetically pleasing design. Fairgrounds recently opened its second location inside the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel in the loop. This coffee shop wants to be known for bringing together a large selection of coffee roasters into one location. Fairgrounds also offers cold brew, kombucha, and sparkling Rishi tea on tap. Customers can pick any three beverages and try a flight, or sample, of their top choices. This innovative concept is raising the bar for Chicago coffee shops!
The Bourgeois Pig
Blocks away from DePaul’s campus this cozy café has been around since 1993. Starting with selection of 8 named sandwiches, The Bourgeois Pig now has more than 25 sandwich options! Owner, Mason Green, became inspired after traveling around Europe exploring various cafes to open his own, and after much debate he found the opportunity in Chicago and The Pig has been a local favorite ever since. With front patio seating and both an up and downstairs you’ll be focused for hours in this quaint setting. The Pig is adding some exclusive fall items to the menu such as fresh homemade apple dumplings—YUM!
Who said work can’t be fun?! With a hot cup of joe, a full belly, and a relaxing atmosphere anything is possible.
