Get more out of your QAD user interface

The QAD .NET UI interface has built-in functions, that require no incremental setup, that can be leveraged by users to make their use of the system more efficient and productive. Specifically, two functions, which seem to be a mystery to many users, fall into this category. The first, is the ability to drill-down through a browse to access a different or more detailed browse, or to access a maintenance function directly. As shown below, any time a browse shows a specific column of data in blue, this is the key to the user that a drill-down capability exists. By placing the cursor on the desired piece of data and right-clicking, the user can drill down to another function. In the below example, the user has drilled directly into Work Order Maintenance from the Work Order Browse. By selecting a different record in the browse, the Work Order Number and ID automatically populate, easing data entry requirements (note: only those users with proper security can access maintenance functions via the drill-down). This is a very efficient and error-free method of maintaining Work Orders.
A second example is the ability to create horizontal or vertical tab groups. In the below example, a user is comparing summary and detail information for a work order. By opening two browses, right-clicking and selecting New Vertical Tab Group, the user can see the two browses side-by-side for easy data comparisons. Again, this is a little-known function that saves users from using multiple sessions or continually navigating between tabs.
