Print Management in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, when you are posting a vendor or customer invoice, you are given the option to also print that invoice as well. From this screen, you can choose your printer and/or pathway to print that individual invoice. However, AX can also print multiple invoices at a time and send them to a default printer or pathway. This can be accomplished not only for invoices, but sales order confirmations, packing slips, collection letters, internal account statements, purchase order confirmations, purchase order product receipts, etc. The key to accomplishing this is in the print management setup form for the respective module.

Let’s jump into the system to look at how to set this up for a customer invoice.

We are going to setup a default printer for customer invoices. Go to Accounts receivable> Setup> Forms> Form setup

From here, click on the Print management button to open a new form.

As you can see, there are many documents available to setup their default printer/pathway. Open the Customer invoice node and select the Original .

Click the right arrow next to the destination field and then click Printer setup to open up your list of printers. Select the printer you would like to default for these invoices. If you would like to have the invoices automatically saved to a file drive, then click the File button and choose the appropriate path. Close all the forms when complete.

In the open customer invoices form, you can select multiple invoices at a time to print. Select all invoices you wish to print and then click Print, then Selected.

You can follow these steps in a similar fashion to produce the results for documents in accounts payable and other modules as well. For additional information please feel free to reach out to us at info@loganconsulting.com or (312) 345-8817.
