QAD EE Improved Security

Posted on: April 21, 2017 | By: Tim Lovely | QAD Financials, QAD Manufacturing, QAD Business Process, QAD Distribution

As QAD users upgrade to QAD’s Enterprise Edition, they are seeing the added benefits and controls that exist in EE that did not exist in prior versions. Three simple improvements that should be noted are the following:

  1. Role Based Security

  2. Segregation of Duties

  3. Transactional Restrictions and Blocking

User Roles can be defined by a given company, with users added to Roles and menu level permissions added to Roles.

With the new Segregation of Duties functionality, you can specify roles that are conflicting and then assign users to those roles. So a user who may be in a role allowing creation of Purchase Orders may not be allowed to do Purchase Order Receipts or AP activity, for example.

Other previously defined security exists and has been enhanced, such as site, entity and field security, but the areas above provide a new and improved level of control for QAD EE users.

Transactional Restrictions and Blocking allow for the capability of restricting certain transactions for selected suppliers or customers, for example. You can may disable sales to customers with credit problem, or disable purchasing from suppliers with quality issues. You could also disable transactions for inactive suppliers or customers.
